At the very beginning, Paris did not have its own football club for a long time. That finally changed in 1970! At that time, some businessmen realized this problem and immediately seized the opportunity to set up Paris Saint-Germain.
Domestically, Paris Saint-Germain have won six Ligue 1 titles, a record ten French Cups, a record six Ligue 1 titles, five trophies and one Ligue 1 title. In international club football, Paris has won 1 European Cup Winners’ Cup and 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup. With 30 titles in its history, PSG is the most successful club in French football and one of only two French clubs (along with Olympique de Marseille) to have won a major European club competition. In an article I wrote earlier, you can also read that Paris Saint-Germain has the most intense rivalry with Marseille.
