Now, Paris Saint-Germain, known to fans as Les Rouge et Bleu and Les Parisiens, has cemented its place as France’s most popular football club.

Here are 10 things you need to know about Paris Saint-Germain. So if you’re a big PSG fan, you’re sure to pass the “test” as a PSG superfan.

1. When was the club founded?

–The club was founded in 1970.

This excellent club, established on August 12, 1970, has only been established for 52 years. So we all say, this is a very young club.
In the late 1960s, many ambitious businessmen wanted to create a Parisian club for Paris. Because they feel it is necessary. But while the idea had been proposed in the 1960s, the petition to create the club was not officially signed until August 1970. Astonishingly, 2,0,000 people agreed and signed the petition at the time.

2. Where do they play?

–They play at the Parc des Princes.

As we all know, the stadium of Paris Saint-Germain is the Parc des Princes. Paris Saint-Germain has been playing games there since 1974. Designed by French architect Roger Tailibert, the nearly 49,000-seat stadium is a concrete masterpiece with a sharp frame.

5. Who are their rivals?

–Olympique de Marseille

Unlike other football duels, this rivalry is solely about the north vs. south, with the haughty Parisians against the blue-collar Marseillais.

Their rivalry with Marseille, commonly known as “Le Classique”, is widely regarded as the fiercest Derby in French football. It is about the relationship between the North and the South, the upper Parisians and the blue-collar Marseille, the political center of the southern provinces and the national capital.

6. What are the colors of Paris Saint-Germain?

–Red, white and blue

Just like the French national team, Paris Saint-Germain’s colors are red, white and blue.
Throughout its history, although Paris Saint-Germain has had six different badges, most of them are more or less the same. In 1973, Daniel Hechter designed the Eiffel Tower logo for Paris Saint-Germain. Hechter also conceived the Paris Saint-Germain home kit, which became a tradition. The home jersey is basically blue, with red and white matching. Red and blue are the colors of Paris, a tribute to revolutionary figures La Fayette and Jean Sylvain Bailly, and white is a symbol of royalty and Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

7. Who are their star players?

–So many.

–Allez Paris Saint-Germain.

As long as you’ve watched any of their games, home or away, you’ve heard of “Allez Paris Saint-Germain”. The club’s official song is “Allez Paris Saint-Germain”, with a tune from the London electro-pop duo Go West.

9. Who is their mascot?

–Germain the Lynx.
With a big smile and bright blue eyes, this Germain the Lynx is too cute to intimidate any opponent. But he’s still part of Paris Saint-Germain, and Germain the Lynx in full PSG uniform is a revered “icon” in the city.

10. Without Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain might not exist

Yes, you read that right, Paris Saint-Germain might not exist without Real Madrid. Here’s the thing:
Remember what I said above? In 1969, Paris did not have its own football team. As a result, some businessmen decided to build their own football club for Paris. When you read the information above, you definitely didn’t think about who the “businessman” was, did you?

At that time, Madrid was already a prestigious club. Later, by chance, Real Madrid president Santiago Bernabéu found he could bring his business expertise to Paris, which, after all, was still a place lacking football infrastructure.
So in 1970, PSG was established. Well… don’t you think it’s amazing, this subtle connection.
