Image rights dispute between Mbappe and the French football federation

The Football Federation (FFF) did not revise France’s collective agreement management right before the World Cup, and Mbappe threatened to skip the photo session.

Fans familiar with this matter should know that as early as March this year. Mbappe has already boycotted the federation’s marketing campaign because of this. And now, with the World Cup looming, the two have been at odds for months. In addition, the occurrence of Paul Pogba during this period has affected France’s preparations for the World Cup.

And if you want to go back even further, the agreement can be traced back to 2010. At the time, the players were asked to participate in marketing campaigns with the team’s sponsors. In return, players will receive 25,000 euros after each international match.

But on this matter, Mbappe and his advisers believe it is unfair. Because it’s clear that some well-known athletes are definitely used more often than others.

“I have decided to not take part in the photo shoot after the French federation’s refusal to change the image rights agreement with the players” Mbappe said in a statement.

“My representatives and I fully regret that no agreement could be reached, as asked, before the World Cup.”

The situation has eased…

Hours after Mbappe said he would boycott photos with teammates, the Football Association issued a statement late on Monday: it “will revise, as soon as possible, the agreement on image rights that binds it to its national team players.”
