Why Neymar was benched for the 0-0 Reims draw?

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) boss Christophe Galtier explained that he decided to bench Neymar because of his heavy workload, as he has played a lot of late.

“In my plans, I saw the association with Ney existing at a certain point,” he said, “Ney didn’t start the game because he’s been playing a lot lately. Obviously, when he came in, we saw a good relationship.”

Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar have all been in red-hot form this campaign, Galtier has shown that he is not afraid to rest his best players to keep them healthy and fresh, which could prove to be a wise decision as the season progresses.

▶ Sergio Ramos was sent off

Sergio Ramos picked up a straight red card as tempers flared shortly before half-time. PSG was short-handed from the 41st minute after Sergio Ramos was sent off for dissent.

“I will talk with the players because a lot of games are coming up, and we need the maximum number of players,” PSG coach Christophe Galtier said. “Missing games because of stupid suspensions and stupid bookings, we must fix that.”
